January 2, 2012 - Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you.  We all have crazy schedules and rarely are all home at the same time.  Its good for Bear though because there is always one person with him.  He's been doing great.  Very calm and well behaved.  Doesn't potty in the house either!!  He has taken off on us a few times so we have fenced in the whole property so he can have free reign without running away.  Also his back and butt have extremely dry skin and flake so we have begun to give him oatmeal bathes to try and get rid of the dryness.  Other than that he is a wonderful dog and has been getting along great with our other Golden Retriever.  They play all the time.  Thanks again for your help and allowing us to raise such a beautiful lab.

September 19, 2011 - Well we decided to name her Daisy.  We had thought about CJ for a name but thought Daisy suits her better.   She rode real good coming home from Georgia this afternoon.  It is almost spooky how many mannerisms she has in common with Buck and Tye.  She loves all the squeaky toys and had them all over the floor already.  She is already in the habit of laying on the floor next to my computer desk like Buck did, see the one photo enclosed where she is next to the door jamb.

September 11, 2011 - He is doing well.  I'm just having a hard time keeping him away from my cat's food.  He's had a lot of loose poo since yesterday but I think it's a combination of nerves and the cat food that he ate when I wasn't looking.  The cat has been hissing at him but he's just ignoring her.  He was good in his crate last night and good about telling me when he wants to go potty.

September 6, 2011 - He's doing great!  Ate dinner like a champ, doing his business outside, chasing his ball, and of course, sleeping like a baby.  He took to the dog bed right away.  He's a little charmer and we're in love with him already.  We've named him Mojo because he's such a happy go lucky guy.  I'll keep you posted on his progress.

September 5, 2011 - Billy is doing great!   As I type this he is lying on the floor next to me.  He went for a 3 mile run yesterday and was very well behaved.  We’ve had several guests come by and he’s been great – a little overly affectionate, maybe, but very sweet.  We are going to get him micro-chipped later this week. We’re really happy to have him in the family!

September 20, 2011 - Hi there! Just thought ya'll would like an update on Turner (Barbados) .... we just started week 2 and she is a total  rock star! I think it's safe to say she is quite happy with her new set-up. She and Wrigley are now best buddies and play nonstop. We have had two sessions with a trainer and she is learning to walk on the leash, sit, heel, and lie down. Potty training is coming along and she does awesome in her crate. She is the funniest little dog - very confident and tons of fun. We think she is a wonderful addition to the family and well worth the 12 hours in the car! ; )

August 28, 2011 - Riley is doing very good.  He was a bit nervous to begin with but has warmed up to us nicely.  He has started to play and is getting used to our routine.

We have taken him for walks in the morning and evening and he loves riding in the car.  He is a very sweet boy!  We are going to be taking him to obedience classes starting next week.

August 23, 2011 - Duke did great last night with friends and their kids last night. He was shaking tonight with the thunder so we all came outside and watched the rain. Duke did much better with all of us sitting together.

Skii and Sawyer

August 19, 2011 - Happy Gotcha Day, Skii and Sawyer! 

August 23, 2011 - Skii and Sawyer adjusted very well to their new family and home. I think they really love it here. They are both playful and snuggly with our family members and with each other. We took them for their first walks in the neighborhood. I took Skii with me this morning to drop of the kids at their school bus. Skii wanted to go with them on the bus. He actually cried when they left for school. He got really attached to the kids and to playing with them. Sawyer likes to get lots of hugs and snuggles from all of us. Both like to follow me around the house. They sleep very well at night and get up with me at 5:45am. I think they were used to this schedule. They take plenty of relaxing naps during the day after playing and snuggling. It is a pleasure to watch Skii and Sawer run through the yard and play with each other. I have the feeling they are very happy here. We got very attached to each other. I can't believe this happened so fast. Both have beautiful personalities. Both are very well behaved. I can tell they had great training and lots of love. I took several pictures and my husband will download them tonight. I will send them as soon as possible. My thoughts are with the Foster Family who did a great job taking care of the puppies. I know it is hard for them and I wanted to let them know that their puppies found a home they love. We will take great care of them.

September 11, 2011 - I thought I would send an update since Hank (formerly known as William)  recently turned 6 months old. He weighs about 60 pounds now and he is  about 6 3/4 months. He is gaining about 2 pounds a week right now, but is still thin looking because he is so tall. As you can see in this picture his feet are still looking huge! We love him so much! June 16, 2011 - Just wanted to let you know Indy and Kate (now Lily) are getting along great. We spent the weekend at the lake and she loved all the smells!!   She is a sweet girl and we are excited she has joined our family.

August 23, 2011 -  Just wanted to send a quick note to let you know that Lily and Indy are getting along great - she has started to swim at the lake and they are bonding really well.   She grabs onto Indy's collar and he pulls her around -- too funny -- and they are cuddling at night, becoming the best of friends!   she does have her puppy moments (i have lost a pair of running shoes:)) - but overall, she is so sweet and we are so happy she is part of our family!

 March 20, 2011 - Finn is a happy little guy!  He is learning the ropes of being the "little brother".  He follows our two older dogs all around and loves when they play with him.   He is learning by trial and error what he can and cannot do to "the girls".

Crate training is a work in progress!  He makes adorable little puppy squeaks and hugs me when I let him out of the crate.

March 20, 2011  - Fenway (formerly known as Puck) had a great night.....he whimpered a little when we put him in his crate around 11pm, then he didn't make a peep until 6am (5am w/o the time change.)  We couldn't believe it!!    He is a darling....and we are enjoying getting to know him and he seems to be enjoying getting to know us too!

March 20, 2011 -  Tina is now Kira and is doing fine. We all are. She is smart and is learning new things every day. I have enclosed a photo of her which is a week old and will take more during the week. She is very active, sleeps in her crate in our bedroom at night and we are working on not biting me (not so much Ken) and house breaking. She responds to us calling her name in the house and she is learning, reluctantly to walk short distances on the leash. Kira prefers to bite my feet and jeans while I attempt to walk her. I've signed us both up for obedience classes beginning in April for 5 weeks. So while it's been a very busy week with her, we do see the adjustments she is making as we go along. And she loves our cat.  I'll email an update next week with photo if she holds still long enough to snap one.

March 6, 2011 - What a smart girl she is!  She started looking out the window and whining on the way home to tell me she had to potty.  She does great on the leash.  She’s an excellent retriever and she seems very receptive to learning commands.  She has separation anxiety but given what she’s been through, who can blame her!  She has so much love to give I can’t imagine why anyone would abandon her.  We’re going to call her either Moonlight or Meadow once we all reach an agreement.  I’ll send you some pictures soon.

March 21, 2011 - Thought I'd email pictures we took today.  Emerson just learned how to fetch!  As you can see, he is growing so fast!  He is also heeling on the leash very well and has learned some commands.  WE LOVE HIM!!!!

May 3, 2011 - Here is a picture we took of Emerson tonight out on our deck. Kristen still thinks he should be a lap dog but, as you can see, he is growing FAST!!!!  We had to put our 11 1/2 year old lab Ben down last week.....so hard to do but we know he is at peace now.  We wish our sweet labs would be healthy forever. Thanks again for all you have done for us.....Emerson is a great dog and seems to smile all the time!

September 11, 2011 - Oliver is doing great. He has been a wonderful addition to our family. He is really a great puppy, but as you know puppies can be challenging at times. During the crazies, we let him out to the back and kick the soccer ball to him which he loves. We did dog training with Atlanta Dog Trainer so that helped with the key commands. We walk him about 3 or 4 times a day. He especially likes the afternoon walk to the bus stop as all of the neighborhood kids stop and pet him. Anyone who is outside walking he wants them to stop and pet him so he lays down and slithers toward them. He's got some good dog friends here in the neighborhood, which he enjoys seeing on walks. He loves to go to the dog park though typically just during the week to avoid the crazy crowds. I might bring him by this weekend to the dog adoption to visit as he loves to see other dogs and people that enjoy dogs.

February 13, 2011 - Hi, Lab Friends!  We are doing GREAT over here!  Angelica (now Hula) is such a snuggle bunny!  She's on my lap right now as I write this!  We all slept in the bed last night with no problems.  Both dogs are eating together, but Angelica is a much slower eater than Scout, so he's always watching out to see if she leaves anything!  We've walked a few times, and Hula definitely needs some leash training... but she's starting to follow Scout's lead, so I don't think it will take long at all.  She's also learned to sit for her treats!  I know better than to expect instant friendship, but I think we're pretty darn close.  They spend a good half hour exploring the back yard together this morning.  He would want to see what she was sniffing, then she would go see what he was sniffing.  This is great because Scout never used the backyard by himself, he would always come right back inside.  Now he has a buddy!

Thank you so much for taking care of Hula while she waited for us.  We love her!

February 1, 2011 - Hi everyone, Just wanted to let you know that Cruz had a great day. All my boys really enjoy him,  Connor (my 2 year old) who was nervous at the beginning can't get enough of him. He played football with the kids in the neighborhood and everyone just loves him.  Attached are 2 pictures, 1 of Cruz hanging out on our front porch and the other is Cruz sitting on his new bed. He is exhausted after a full day of playing.

January 25, 2011 - Pippa (now known as Maggie) is doing wonderfully well!  We go on long walks everyday, and have had play dates with our neighbor's Great Bernese, Orion.  Maggie runs around in circles around Orion, and all he can do is sit and watch!  It's absolutely hilarious!  We love her so much already, and she has adjusted well to living at home.  Our cat's Lester and Lulu really like her too, especially since she doesn't chase them!  We will send you pictures soon.  Thank you again for allowing us to adopt such a sweet girl.  She's filled the missing piece in our family!

March 9, 2011 - Britt is doing great!  His last weight was 70 a few weeks ago and he continues to walk daily to strengthen his muscles.  He is a truly wonderful dog.  He will get his check-up and vaccinations 4/1 at Appalachian Animal Hospital here in Ellijay.  They have already met him and have his records.  Thank you for all you do for these wonderful animals.

February 1, 2011 - Things with Luke (now Leo) are going great. We just got back from a weekend at the lake with my family and he loved it. (Well, except for the car ride- we have been on 5 car rides and he has thrown up 4 times). Walks are going MUCH better with the leash you recommended though, he just doesn't love going to the bathroom on it. At least he is not pulling or tripping me (as much) on jogs. He sleeps like a baby at night and seems to be getting more used to things around the house during the day. He still gets nervous every now and then (follows my wife wherever she goes, etc.) but he seems more "relaxed" every day.  

You probably already know this - but he is the sweetest dog we have ever met. He loves kids and I have yet to see him bark or jump on anyone. We just love him.  Thank you for checking in! 

ps - He is IMPOSSIBLE to get a good picture of, but I have a few on my phone and will forward them to you.
