Baseball Pups

"Baseball season is here; the All-American past-time. And the Labrador Retriever is the All-American dog. Come meet your starting lineup today". These puppies are around 7 weeks old. Wrigley and Shea are female, everyone else is a boy.

UPDATE FROM THE FOSTER FAMILY Shea is a petite little lady, smaller than her big brothers. She is independent though and holds her own with them. She's very affectionate but is also content to be left alone and entertain herself. She's catching on to housebreaking quickly and goes all night without accidents or crying.

Bocce

Say hello to Bocce! Bocce is a smaller lab at only around 50 pounds, but what he lacks in size he makes up for with his sweetness. Bocce loves people and is such a sweetheart! He was born March 4 of 2008, making him just over a year old. Bocce will need to be an only dog as he enjoys having all the attention on him. Overall Bocce is such a wonderful boy who deserves a place to call his own. So what are you waiting for? Fill out an application on this awesome boy today!

BOCCE NEEDS A FOSTER HOME!

Candy

Meet Candy our new sweet addition to the LFS gang. Candy is around 4 years old, very sweet and a little scared of what is going on at the moment. She was found running around the streets and nobody reclaimed her. She is around 65 pounds now so she is a nice size lab, not too big not too small. Candy is looking for a new home where to feel secure again.

UPDATE FROM THE FOSTER FAMILY:  Candy is settling in well in her foster home. Now that she is in a home she is learning to relax and enjoy her foster brothers. She is very sweet and loving.

Chance

Meet Chance, an 11 month old boy whose family had to give him up when they moved. He has a sweet disposition and gets along well with other dogs. He's been around children too and is good with them. He's confused and scared right now but we'll have more details on this sweet guy as he gets settled into his new foster home.

UPDATE FROM THE FOSTER FAMILY:  Chance has adapted well to his foster home.  He was very confused about his 4 legged friends at first, but once he realized they were his friends, he came out of his shell.  We've had no accidents in the house and has made his way onto our bed.  We do crate him when we're not home, and he's adjusting to that.  In fact, I woke up in the middle of the night and he was sleeping in the crate!  He knows, "sit", and "down" as in lay down, and we're working on "off" with his jumping.  Chance has been curious about our cat, but the cat just hisses and Chance backs off.  And Chance has done very well with our 9 month old daughter.  He loves to play, but calms down nicely-we think he would do great with a home with other dogs, or by himself.  I've yet to get a decent picture of him, he likes to move!  But I promise, it looks like he's smiling!  Chance is a great dog!

Chanel

This is Chanel, a really sweet 1 1/2 year old girl that is so happy to be a part of Labrador Friends that she just can't stop smiling!  She is on the petite side, only weighing around 45 lbs.  It appears that she has had some training as she walks fairly well on a leash and she rides nicely in the car.  Check back in soon as we learn more about this sweet girl's personality.

Hey, is there a treat in there for me by chance????

UPDATE FROM THE FOSTER MOM:  Chanel has come a long way from when she first joined LFS. She is now comfortable with other dogs she knows and she plays very well. She is housebroken and will let you know when she needs to go out. Foster mom does not crate her at night anymore. She is a very affectionate dog and loves to snuggle. She is eager to please and does not like to get in trouble, so she responds well to corrections. She would blossom with an owner who has experience with dogs and knows how to establish a leadership role.  We don't know why but she does get scared if she gets startled while sleeping. For this reasons we recommend a house with no kids. Open your house to Chanel and you will be rewarded.

VIRTUAL FOSTER:  LINLEY

Cody

Cody is a big 3 year old boy - he weighs in at 80 pounds. He's very affectionate & loves people & other dogs. And he loves the water! Cody knows several commands & enjoys his car rides. His owner had to give him up when she moved, so he's looking for his forever home now.

Lilly

Say hello to Lilly, a 5 year old Lab/Boxer mix!  She is on the petite side for a lab weighing in at about 40 lbs.  Lilly loves people and will become attached to whoever she is allowed to spend time with. She is such a sweet girl but a little shy at first.  She is very playful and loves her stuffed toys! Lilly becomes attached to her "people" quickly and can sometimes snap at other dogs when trying to protect them, so she will need some training before being introduced into a home with another dog.

UPDATE 4/17/09:   Lilly is such a good dog! She loves to play with tennis balls and knows she must sit before they can be thrown for her. Lilly is a quick learner and is eager to please, which means training her should be an easy task. She also loves to be outside, so Lilly will need a fenced in backyard to run around in. She is past the puppy-stage so she doesn’t chew much, and she adapts quickly to any changes that occur around her. Car rides are one of her favorite things, and she has learned quickly that she must stay in the back seat. Lilly is generally a VERY happy dog; she smiles a lot and is happy no matter what.  It’s cute to see how excited she gets to meet new people. Overall Lilly would make a great dog for someone.

While it may not be a dozen roses it is my stuffed toy that I got for Valentine's Day and I am very happy with it!

Max G

Meet Max! This gorgeous purebred yellow boy is 4 years old and looking for his forever home! Poor Max was surrendered to the shelter when his owners couldn't take care of him anymore, but now he is a happy member of LFS. Max is as sweet as can be without a mean bone in his body. He enjoys having his head and ears scratched and loves to thank you by giving you kisses. We think Max is already house trained as he didn't mess in his kennel and waited to go out before he relieved himself. Max is a large dog at around 90 pounds, but don't let that keep you from opening up your heart and home to him. You will surely be rewarded when you adopt this wonderful boy!

Boy, adoptions can really be hot on a Saturday, the water sure feels good!

MAX G NEEDS A FOSTER HOME!

Molly

Molly is a sweet 3 year old girl. She's small and stocky like an English lab, with a beautiful shiny black coat. She has her playful times, where she runs and wrestles with her foster brothers, but she's mostly content to lay beside you. She's not high-energy and does well in the house by herself; she doesn't need a crate. She will be fine with or without another dog and she gets along with everyone.

Roger

Meet Roger!  He is a happy go lucky 7 month old puppy who is looking for lots of love and attention.  He was found wandering in a neighborhood and was picked up by a nice family who was worried something would happen to him on the street.  He is a quick learner and has already partially caught on to house training.  He has the softest coat and is one big bundle of love!  He gets along great with other dogs and everyone he meets.  Could Roger fit into your forever home?

 .

Ahhh, this is the life.......

Ok, fine I'll share the pool since my foster brother seems to enjoy it so much!!!

UPDATE FROM THE FOSTER FAMILY:  Roger is now fully housetrained. He is happy & full of life - he's always up for an adventure. He's very bright too; he catches on quickly. And we obviously can't keep him out of the water! He'll be great as an only dog or with others, he loves everyone.

Shatka

This is Shatka.  She is approx. 7 years old, and she is very deserving of a home to call her own. Although you may see here a bit nervous at adoptions, she really is a sweetheart, and it's just all the noise and extra dogs that make her a little anxious. But don't let that stop you from coming by to say hello! She will graciously welcome your hugs and kisses!

UPDATE FROM THE FOSTER DAD:  Shatka is doing great!  She rides well in the car and loves to go for walks.  She is an absolute joy!

Trapper

Trapper is an awesome senior Lab whose owner never came to claim him at animal control.  He has a beautiful yellow/gold coat, and those loving Labbie eyes that make your heart melt every time he looks at you.  He is housebroken, and takes treats gently from your hand.  This amazing dog knows a few commands and is very well behaved.  He still a bit of spunk in him, as he tried to play with the other younger labs at adoption day last week. Trapper basically needs a place where he can lay around, soak in the morning sun, and lean against his human buddy for love ,attention, and occasional treats.  He is easy going, and gets along with other dogs.  It appears that Trapper may have been hit by a car in his younger years, for his hips show arthritic changes on xray.  But that doesn't stop this senior Lab from enjoying life!  He is on daily antiimflammitorys to keep him comfortable. Trapper is one of the most laid back dogs you will ever meet, and just a kind ole soul.  Trapper needs a loving home to live out the rest of his years.  If you have a special place in your heart for senior labs, then Trapper is that special lab for you.

UPDATE FROM THE FOSTER FAMILY:  Trapper is such a good boy!  He is housebroken and very easy going.  He gets along great with all other dogs and also doesn't mind cats.  He is now on anti-inflammatory medication once a day along with pain medication that he takes 3 times a day.  He is getting shots once a week to hopefully help him get around better.  He already seems to be responding to the medications!  He can not go up and down stairs very well so he has to be carried, but he is worth the extra effort because he is such a loyal loving dog!  He will need a special home with lots of love and patience!  He loves to play with balls even though he can no longer chase them.  He is a young soul trapped in an aging body!

Trapper snuggling with his foster brother

UPDATE FROM THE FOSTER FAMILY: So I’m sure you guys are sick of seeing random boring pictures of Trapper but I have to continue to send them so you guys will fall in love with our old man like I have!  He is such a good boy and I love every minute I have with him!  I just wish his legs could keep up with his young soul!!!

Trapper had a great day today!  We played ball for a little while and he had so much fun… you can see it on his face in the pictures!  He did great!  He is not as fast as the other dogs but he is the best retriever of all three of them.  Woody has never understood the game… he is the fastest and always the first to the ball but then once he puts his mouth on it to show you he got there first he just drops it and runs back to me….what a goof!  It is really pretty funny.  Onyx and Trapper both love the game and when Trapper would get tired Onyx would bring the ball back so that I could throw it back to where Trapper was standing just so that Trapper didn’t have to run as much to get the ball.  After we played ball I went out and got them all a bunch of new toys so they could have fun with each other even when I’m not there.  I also got Trapper a doggie sleeping bag for the cooler nights when we sit in my parents back yard by the fire so that he can stay covered up and won't get stiff from the cold.  The first few pictures are of Trapper playing in the yard today and then there are a few of him hanging out and watching TV with his new toys laying on his new sleeping bag.  He really is the best dog… I just can’t believe someone could dump him like they did!
