Available Labs

URGENT NEED FOR FOSTER HOMES: We are in a foster home shortage!!! Please check out our section on FOSTERING. There is a lab waiting for your help.

Alley

Alley is such a wonderful senior girl! She is so loving and affectionate and will follow you everywhere and lean her head on your for a scratch. She is potty trained and can be trusted in the house alone (doesn't chew etc.). She is so cute when she carries around her toys or stares at you with those big old labby eyes. :) She would do best in a quiet household, as she does not like to be bumped or jumped on by other dogs. She does great with cats and older dogs who mind their manners. She is such a wonderful and loving companion and would be a great addition to any home. Alley is also AKC registered!

UPDATE FROM THE FOSTER FAMILY:  Alley is by far the sweetest and easiest dog in the world! She loves to be petted and needs lots of love and attention. One of her favorite things to do is sit next to you and let her pet her. When she's not asking to be pet, she loves to lounge around and relax with a chew toy or something else to play with. Despite her age, she still has plenty of energy and loves to go on walks! She also loves to play alone in the back yard, but she really likes to explore so you have to keep an eye on her.

Arnold

Arnold is a young 6 month old boy that we just rescued.  Check back soon for more information on this handsome guy!

ARNOLD NEEDS A FOSTER HOME!

Baxter

Baxter is an energetic young black male Lab without a mean bone in his body. We found him on the run and despite attempts to find his owners, who obviously took great care of and loved him, we have found no success. He listens to your voice and just wants to do the right thing. He has learned his new name too. We crate him while we are out, because we also have 2 other male labs and just do not think it is a good idea to let all 3 play unattended yet. Bax gets along great with our 2 boys and there has been no sign or thoughts of aggression. He is house trained and would be great by himself or with others. Someone loved him and must miss him, but he had no tags or micro-chip, just a new collar. We would keep him, but already have the 2 boys. Baxter has lots of Lab in him because he loves to retrieve and always wags his big beaver tail. If you are looking for a Big Love, Baxter is for you.

Britt

Even at animal control, you can tell that I am a happy dog!

Yea, out of there and I just had a bath, life is very good!

Happy dog, happy dog.

Ok, so here is my serious pose.

Check back soon as we learn more about this wonderful guy.  We can tell you that he is approx. 6 to 7 years old and has just finished up treatment for heartworms.

UPDATE ON BRITT:  Meet Britt! He is a wonderful 6 to 7 year old boy. Poor Mr. Britt was found as a stray and no one came to claim him. Thankfully, LFS stepped in to help this boy out. He has just finished heartworm treatment and is now in a foster home. Britt is very sweet and despite his hardships, he continues to "smile" for everyone.  Keep checking back for more info on this awesome boy as we learn more about him. Open your heart and home to this special boy and you won't regret it!

I do love my squeeky toys!

Well, hello how are you doing?

Boy that treat sure was good, may I have another one please??

How I love my stuffed animals!

Just chillin.....

Daisy

Daisy is a sweet young puppy whose family has been effected by the economy and can no longer care for her.  She loves to be with people and other animals.  Daisy is house and crate trained, loves to ride in the car, walks well on a leash and gets along w/cats.  She is a bit timid at the moment because of all the recent disruptions in her life. Can you find space in your home for this sweet little lady?  You will never regret it.

DAISY NEEDS A FOSTER HOME!

Gretel

Miss Gretel

And here is Miss Gretel winking at you!

UPDATE FROM THE FOSTER MOM FOR GRETEL:  She did well in the car (although I think she was scared since she constantly drooled) and was great with our dogs last night and this morning. She already mastered the stairs and is eager for treats (working on sit). She sat nice for a ton of neighborhood kids who came out to see her and had no issue with the crate (barked in the middle of the night to go out and just a little more after we put her back in). She loves squeaky toys and can't get enough love and attention from humans!

UPDATE FROM THE FOSTER MOM:  Gretel is a very good retriever and loves the water! She learned how to swim quickly this weekend from her foster brother. She is doing great with her crate training (goes in freely for her treat and lets us know if she has to go in the middle of the night which is really only once now). She is such a little snuggler who thinks she is a lap dog and is quickly learning manners from her foster brothers. She has had a lot of exposure with kids and has been very gentle and tolerant with them. She will be a great addition to any home with other dogs or without :-)

Lacy

UPDATE FROM THE FOSTER MOM:  This is the latest addition to the LFS crew.  Miss Lacy is wonderful.  I tried to get shots to show how miserably thin she is. The photos don't do her justice, true that photos add pounds.  She is doing really well with my dogs.   I think she was loved.  My guess is someone lost their job and couldn't feed her.  She loves to play with toys, loves to catch a ball, doesn't act afraid of anything.  Someone spent time with her.   She isn't house trained. Lacy definitely cannot live with cats.  When she gets a glimpse of the cats she is so obsessed that, she walks back and forth for literally hours without sitting down.  I asked the vet whet did she think Lacy was mixed with and she said what I thought, German Pointer/Lab. Lacy is still wonderful, very affectionate, no aggression.

Just look at how beautiful I am today!

I'm just waiting on my forever home....

Macy

Macy is a 3 months chocolate lab mix who had a rough start on life. She is very cute and happy and she loves everyone, especially other dogs. She is being treated for her skin issues and in not time her coat will look a lot better. She was in a scary shelter for a while and she is ready for a new life. Open your heart to Macy and you will not be disappointed.

UPDATE FROM THE FOSTER DAD:  Macy is doing great. She is getting bigger, her coat is now a wonderful dark chocolate. She is a typical lab puppy. She loves everyone, people and dogs, does not have a worry in the world, and try to gets her nose into everything to check it out. She is such a happy puppy, she will make a great companion for any lab or kid.

Moose

Moose was a contestant on Dancing With the Stars in another life. He loves to stand on his hind legs, find a partner, and dance the day away. (He doesn't jump up in an attention seeking/aggressive way, it seems like he used to do this with his old owner all the time.) He is a big boy, but after a few minutes on the leash he calmed down and enjoyed the walk. He is a strikingly beautiful labby. He is a beautiful color and full of life. You'll be happy if you add this moose to your family...or foster him until he finds his forever home.

Moose is the softest dog you will ever meet. He is our big teddy bear. Moose loves people and most dogs. He is slightly male dominant so he will not do well with another dominant male.

Moose seems to be good with cats.  Smelled them. And all that he was more interested in the toys then the cats.

Shatka

This is Shatka.  She is approx. 7 years old, and she is very deserving of a home to call her own. Although you may see here a bit nervous at adoptions, she really is a sweetheart, and it's just all the noise and extra dogs that make her a little anxious. But don't let that stop you from coming by to say hello! She will graciously welcome your hugs and kisses!

UPDATE FROM THE FOSTER DAD:  Shatka is doing great!  She rides well in the car and loves to go for walks.  She is an absolute joy!

Spirit

Spirit is a beautiful 8 month old pure-bred chocolate lab.  She unfortunately has fallen on bad times, as her owners dropped her off at the local animal shelter because they could no longer care for her.  Miss Spirit didn't seem to have gotten much attention from her former family.  She needs work walking on the leash and learning not to jump up on people.  I don't think she had ever been in a car before because it took all my strength and that of my daughters to even get her in the car to go to the vet.  Once in the car, she settled in and enjoyed looking out the window, and chewing on her tennis ball and bone. She loves to be scratched and rubbed. In fact, she craves" any" attention she can get from people  Apparently, she has been known to jump fences.  Spirit is just a spirited young lady that is just trying to exude some independence.  She will make a wonderful addition to some lucky family.  However, her new family must be willing to give her the attention and training that she needs and deserves. Spirit appears to get along with other dogs, although she has not yet been tested with cats.

SPIRIT NEEDS A FOSTER HOME!

Wilson

Wilson is a large black lab mix.  His previous owners said that he does not do well with other dogs or strangers.  While evaluating Wilson I saw no signs of aggression towards me or the other family dog.  However, based on remarks made by Wilson's former owner I feel that he would do best in a single dog home with no children.  This would enable Wilson to get the attention he needs and not put him in situations that make him anxious.  Wilson's former owner will also be paying for a 2 week board and train program prior to his adoption.  This would enable Wilson and his new family to start off their relationship with clear boundaries and structure.  I feel that Wilson is a very intelligent dog that simply needs consistent rules and training.  He will make an excellent companion for empty nestors or a single person looking for a new friend.

I am one handsome boy for sure!!!!

Soccer ball, stick, I am easily amused.....

Zara

UPDATE FROM THE FOSTER FAMILY:  Here are some pictures of Zara or Lady Zaza for those who know her ;-)  She loves to run and play on open fields chasing a soccer ball. She has already learned the SIT and DOWN commands, although it is not consistent yet. She follows us around everywhere we go. You can tell she is just so happy to be in a home. She loves bananas and is starting to like carrots for snacks too. She looks up to Toby as a big brother and loves to walk side by side with him. She has no problem going into the crate, although she cried quite a bit this morning after we put her back in at 5 AM after taking her outside for a quick potty. I guess she was just ready to start her day, but we weren't ;-)  We are enjoying going through training all over again. It is so rewarding, especially considering where she was just a week ago.
