Our Big Holiday Party and Reunion

On December 15th, Labrador Friends of the South (LFS) had their HolidayParty and Reunion. This festivity was an event to help raise funds, a reunion for dogs that had already been adopted, as well as a regular adoption day for anyone looking to adopt a new dog. Despite the heavy rain several hundred people came and 14 dogs were adopted, which is a record for a single adoption day for LFS. Kids were able to play in the inflatable moonwalk, eat free popcorn and cotton candy, and roast marshmallows in the fire pit. Adults could shop from the multiple vendors present and/or bid on items available in the large silent auction. The silent auction had items in various price ranges with a total retail value of over $9000, which was a big success that raised just over $4500 to help us continue our efforts to save more Labradors. Although we did not quite reach our goal, with the heavy rains and cold wind it was still a good day to help us keep going. At the end of the day we all shared the huge and delicious multiple layered chocolate cake that was decorated with the Christmas version of our logo and the number of dogs adopted as of Dec 15th (200). Including the Holiday Party the total number of dogs adopted so far for the 2007 calendar year is 218, which brings the total number of dogs adopted through LFS to 417 since its inception in January 2006.

Go to our party webpage for a list of the all the wonderful people that have helped and have donated for the party.

There was so much water that at a point we had a river coming under the tent. We moved everything on top of the tables and we kept partying. The dogs were so good and nobody panic. Feel free to ask us for the original of a picture. And if you had Laura take a picture of you, stay posted for instructions on where to go look to get your copy.
